This bookcase is so wonderfully decorated, it's perfect.  There is a "full" feel to it, yet it is not cluttered.  The grouping of similar accent items keeps the look organized.  The color scheme of blue and white, with touches of black lend it a sophisticated beachy feel.  Oh, if I only had a beach house...

This walk-in closet is near perfect.  It's not too big, not too small, just right.  It's lit well and everything is accessible and   has a home.  I might add a little square or round ottoman to add some softness, but otherwise, I'm dreaming of this closet... This is fantastic.  It's the most clever storage solution I've seen in a long time.  The towels are easy to reach and look cool.  Plus, it's not taking up floor space. You could always modify it to fit your needs;  hang all large baskets if you have a big family, or if it's just you one basket will do, or if you have a larger bathroom you could hang more than 3 and insert some decorative objects

I have a lot of orange in my home and I love it.  Orange is warm, bold, contemporary, and even feminine.  Paired with neutrals like grey, it really stands out.  The curve and drama of this upholstered headboard is so cool, and made up in this fun orange makes it even better!

This room is refreshing.  The mix of light and dark wood is visually interesting, as is the marriage of modern lines (like the coffee table) and hints of traditional flair (fringed pillows, turned legs).  The wallpaper pattern is large, however the black and white prints with large white matting give the eye a rest.  The neutral color scheme lets all of the detail shine.

Every now and then I love a room all done up in pink and floral.  This interior is such a fun mix of orange, yellow, and pink.  The walls and woodwork are kept white, which gives the eye a rest.  It's refreshing to see some light wood used for the occasional tables, as well as mixing this light wood with the dark legs. Check out this cake that a co-worker designed and made for me.  Isn't it amazing?  This is only her 4th cake that she has made using fondant - and it looks like she'd been doing it for years. This great space designed by Vanessa De Vargas captured me immediately.  I love the tufted slipper chair, the tuxedo style sofa, and the touches of glam with the mirrors and accents.  It is also a great example of how feminine does not always have to be pink or purple and floral... I just received my new mirror from CSN Stores and love it, love it, love it.  It's the Ashton Sutton Gold Sunburst Mirror and it's the perfect finishing touch to my current bedroom project.   It's pretty big, yet not heavy, so it was very easy to hang. Dining rooms can become sort of cold and stark.  I guess it's all of the wood pieces that we typically place in the room; table, chairs, hutch & buffet, servers, and reflective items like mirrors, lighting fixtures, and shiny plates.  We've seen the trend over the past few years to add upholstered parsons chairs to the set, adding some softness and even pattern...and what a difference it makes.

House Beautiful recently revealed their "Kitchen of the Year" designed by Bravo's Jeff Lewis and his team from the show Flipping Out.  I think it's the ideal Manly Monday kitchen because of it's sleek design.  It's also a great kitchen for women too, with all of it's neat storage and cool appliances. I'm personally torn between cool and classic interior style all of the time.  I enjoy sleek and lacquered furniture with straight lines, but I also adore furniture with inlay designs, softer lines, and a little bit of plush.  Both can be feminine - just like these two bedrooms; one a little bit more contemporary, the other more traditional.Do you lean one way, or mix?

Lighting is one of my first projects to tackle in my new digs.  The BF had this floor lamp that was a little dated.  The brass base didn't bother me as much as the tiny pleated lamp shade did, so, after a little compromising with the BF, it was decided that a new shade would do the trick. I replaced the tiny pleated shade with a large tan linen drum shade, and I think it made quite a difference

If I were a man, I'd live here.  Plain and simple, love this room.  It's rustic with chunky wood.  It's light with creamy colors.  That relaxed roman shade is so simple yet steals the show.  I'm a big lover of leather and that ottoman is gorgeous with it's warm caramel tone.  I'd pass on those folding chairs though... ron marvin I was watching the Nate Show the other day and he mentioned when decorating a contemporary room, you want to use fewer objects, but have those objects each make a big statement or be individually exquisite.  This will keep the space interesting, yet minimal.

While shopping in Newburyport last week, I spotted this beauty on the street from blocks away.  Well, she now belongs to me and will soon go under a make-over... I'm just unsure of what to do.  I'm thinking repaint the wood white and reupholster in a print, maybe zebra.  Or, silver-leaf the wood and reupholster in a solid, maybe a velvet.I'll keep you posted!
